I'm Rosemary Esperanza, a bilingual Afro-Puerto Rican Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) offering telehealth psychotherapy for women across New York State. A lot of the women I work with look completely capable from the outside. They're holding careers, families, relationships and quietly, inside, they're exhausted. They're carrying anxiety, depression, or the particular weight of always having to be "the strong one." Therapy with me is about slowing that down. Getting honest about what your body and your life have been asking for. We work on building real emotional steadiness so when things get intense, you can stay grounded instead of spiraling, shutting down, or pushing through. We look at the patterns that keep repeating in your relationships. The places where your boundaries get blurry. What it would actually mean to choose yourself without guilt. And we go deeper: the core beliefs you've carried for years, the old stories you inherited about your worth, and how your past experiences still shape how you show up today. I use evidence-based approaches alongside somatic and body-based tools because real change should be felt in your day-to-day life, not just understood in your head.

I offer therapy in English or Spanish/Spanglish for women across New York State.

Who I Work Best With

You might be a good fit for therapy if you're a woman navigating: -Anxiety: chronic worry, hypervigilance, difficulty relaxing, or always waiting for something to go wrong -Depression: emotional flatness, disconnection, low motivation, or a quiet sadness you can't quite name -Burnout: exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, resentment that's building, and a growing sense that you've lost yourself -Life transitions: career shifts, relationship changes, identity questions, or the grief of leaving one version of yourself behind -Generational and relational trauma: patterns from your family of origin that show up in your relationships today -Low self-esteem and people-pleasing: chronic self-doubt, difficulty saying no, and over-functioning that's taking a real toll If you're a high-achieving woman who looks fine on the outside but feels anything but — this is the space for you.

Therapeutic Approaches

My approach is eclectic and trauma-informed, which means I draw from a range of evidence-based methods and adapt them to what you actually need, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Modalities I draw from include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - identifying and shifting the thought patterns keeping you stuck; Schema Therapy - working with the deeply held beliefs formed in childhood that shape how you see yourself and others; Internal Family Systems / Parts Work - getting to know the different parts of yourself with curiosity instead of judgment; Somatic and body-based approaches - using the body as a pathway to healing, not just the mind; Motivational Interviewing - meeting you where you are and supporting your own clarity and readiness for change; NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) - focusing on the patterns of disconnection that form early in life and continue to shape your adult experiences; and Mindfulness-informed strategies - building present-moment awareness and nervous system regulation. All treatment is individualized to your specific goals, history, and the pace that's right for you.

  • I provide therapy for adult women living in New York State.
  • My practice is designed for outpatient, scheduled telehealth therapy, which means I’m not able to provide the level of immediate, high-contact support that a crisis requires. For that reason, I’m not the best fit for someone who is currently in crisis, experiencing active suicidal thoughts, or has a recent history of suicide attempts that may require closer monitoring or a higher level of care. This isn’t about judgment—it’s about making sure you get the right kind of support, right away. If you’re feeling unsafe or at risk of harming yourself, please call or text 988 (U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. If you’re looking for ongoing therapy and need more intensive support at this time, I can help guide you toward resources that are better equipped to care for you. In addition, I’m not able to work with clients who are currently involved in an active legal court case for any reason. My role is to provide a therapeutic space for healing, not to participate in legal processes and I do not provide court-related documentation or testify in trials.

  • Sessions are $225 per 53 minutes
  • The length of therapy depends on your needs, goals, and the depth of the work. Some clients prefer short-term support, while others benefit from ongoing therapy to address deeper emotional patterns or trauma. We will revisit your goals regularly to ensure therapy remains aligned with your growth.
  • Yes, when done ethically, holistic elements can be integrated into therapy when aligned with your treatment goals. Research supports that when clinically appropriate holistic elements are integrated alongside evidence-based care, most benefit from a more comprehensive, whole-person approach that expands their capacity for self-care and supports overall wellbeing.
  • In our first session, we’ll take a grounded, comprehensive look at what’s bringing you in right now, and what you want to be different. We will also review onboarding paperwork and I will answer any questions that you may have. We’ll also begin to cover your history and the patterns that have shaped you, your current symptoms and stress responses, and the day-to-day challenges that are keeping you stuck or depleted. We’ll clarify your goals in real, lived terms (not just “feel better,” but what calm, steadiness, sleep, boundaries, and emotional safety actually look like in your body and in your life).
  • Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled a minimum of 48 hours in advance of your appointment. Missed appointments or late cancellations will be charged at the full price of your session.
  • You can schedule a 60 minute intake to get started. Intakes are charged at the standard rate of $225.
  • Yes. I provide therapy in English, Spanish, or both, depending on your preference.
  • Spanglish is the natural blend of Spanish and English that happens when both languages live in your everyday life. As an Afro Puerto Rican born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I move fluidly between Spanish and English the way many Puerto Rican New Yorkers do - sometimes a word or phrase simply lands in English because it’s the most natural fit in the moment and vice versa. When it matters for clarity and comfort, I can absolutely keep our sessions and communication strictly in Spanish; my goal is always to meet you in the language that feels safest and most supportive for you.
